Agoston Haraszthy

1812 – 1869. Hungarian-American traveler, writer, town-builder, and more, and pioneer winemaker in Wisconsin and California, referred to as "Father of Modern Winemaking in California". Founds Buena Vista Vineyards in Sonoma, California 1857. Adds acreage to hold 5,000 acres of valley and hillside land for grape growing.
